Farewell to Boulder, Off to Texas
Sep 18, 2021 | Austin, TX

We left Colorado and started driving towards Texas. We drove through many hilariously small, run-down towns. Both in Southern Colorado and Northern Texas. We arrived at Lake Meredith and struggled to find our precise camping spot that Erika had planned, but eventually found it right before sunset. On the way in, there were large tarantulas crawling sporadically across the road. Once at the campsite, we met a nice old man named John and his old fat dog named Raven. Erika heard coyotes howling in the not-too-distant hills, multiple times throughout the night. The cicadas were also loudly chirping, sometimes right above our tent. Brian got around 5 huge mosquito bites all over his legs, even though he was only outside of the tent after dark for about 5 minutes. Once awake, we packed up and drove further into Texas. There were a bazillion flies all over everyone’s cars at the gas station.
