Waterloo Park

Sep 26, 2021 | Austin, TX

We went to a park called Waterloo Park to see some live music and eat some food from CAVA. We sat under a tree and there were a bunch of ants. The bands weren’t super entertaining so soon after eating, we went to walk around the park a bit. We walked above the main amphitheater of the park and looked down to watch part of a breakdancing show. The show had mostly kids but also a few adults and was much more entertaining than the original live band.

Later on, we went to Barton Springs for the first time. We had to walk quite a ways to get to the entrance and then realized we didn’t bring masks with us, but needed them when talking to the ticket person. So Brian walked all the way back to the car to grab them for us. Meanwhile, Erika bought our tickets as “Texas residents” so that we could save a few bucks. There was a lot of grass for us to hangout in and the water was nice. It is basically a large, man made pool that has algae all along the floor and walls. It was very similar to One Mile in Chico. There was a group of people we could hear nearby that had formed a drum circle.

After Barton Springs, we went to Thom’s Market and Erika bought some well-priced sake and an enamel pin of their old-timey logo of a pinup girl. Later, while driving, we saw a sticker that said “Don’t California my Texas” and would forever go on to ironically quote it.
